We proudly present the second Humboldt Kolleg activity in Indonesia. This activity is organized by Humboldt Ambassador Scientist for Indonesia in collaboration with Ma Chung Research Center for Photosynthetic Pigments, Universitas Ma Chung, and supported by The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (http://www.humboldt-foundation.de). The activity is designed specifically for Humboldtians in South East Asia and can be attended by general participants as observers with an aim to introduce the scientific contribution of Humboldt fellows in South East Asia countries.

Similar to the previous meeting, the 2nd Humboldt Kolleg will be held in conjunction with The International Conference on Natural Sciences (ICONS) 2014 which will be open to public, but especially targeted at Humboldtians, senior and early carrier scientists. The theme selected for Humboldt Kolleg is “The Voice of ASEAN Researchers”. It is intended to strengthen synergy, networking, and the role of scientists in Indonesia and the South East Asia countries in developing basic sciences and their application for the advancement of South East Asia Countries. The themes selected for ICONS 2014 is “Natural Sciences: From Laboratory to Industrial Applications”. There are five sub-themes that will be developed in ICONS 2014:

  1. Technology for safe food and secure supplies
  2. Drug discovery and development based on biodiversity
  3. Chemical energy conversion and storage
  4. Application of microscopy and spectroscopy in nano-scale (Bio-imaging beyond diffraction limit)
  5. Climate and environmental protection

Representative of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation will present Alexander von Humboldt programs. The programs will be presented in such way as to draw interest of the doctoral students and early carrier scientists who have not known the Foundation.
